What You Will Do
- Lead the design and development of production machine learning and generative AI systems for fraud detection, risk scoring, onboarding, and internal automation
- Provide technical leadership and day-to-day guidance for two machine learning engineers including architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical direction
- Architect LLM powered workflows, retrieval augmented generation pipelines, vector search components, and risk modeling services
- Work with structured and unstructured data across onboarding, identity, document verification, and payments systems
- Own the complete machine learning lifecycle including prototyping, data pipelines, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement
- Establish best practices for model governance, observability, drift detection, and performance measurement
- Evaluate and integrate third party AI and identity solutions including document verification and anomaly detection technologies
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and risk leadership to identify and prioritize high impact AI opportunities
- Influence long term platform architecture as the foundational AI leader
- 5 to 10 or more years building and deploying AI and machine learning systems in production environments
- Strong Python skills and deep experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit learn
- Experience with financial, transactional, risk scoring, or other complex structured datasets
- Experience shipping models with CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, monitoring, and observability tools
- Strong architectural skills and the ability to drive technical decisions at both strategic and implementation levels
- Experience mentoring or guiding other engineers in a technical leadership capacity
- Ability to work cross functionally and influence direction without formal authority
- Comfortable operating in a fast moving startup environment
- Experience in fintech, payments, fraud, underwriting, or other risk focused modeling
- Familiarity with LangChain, Hugging Face, LlamaIndex, or vector databases
- Experience building retrieval augmented generation systems, LLM APIs, prompt based workflows, or embedding pipelines
- Knowledge of identity verification workflows, onboarding systems, or KYC and KYB processes
- Experience with document intelligence, OCR, or entity extraction pipelines
- $170K to $200K base salary plus performance bonus
