Overview:
We are a respected full-service law firm seeking an experienced IP Docketing Specialist to join its Intellectual Property Group. This role provides essential docketing, calendaring, and administrative support for patent and trademark prosecution matters, ensuring timely compliance with domestic and international deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, calendar, and distribute high-volume incoming correspondence from the USPTO, WIPO, and foreign agents/associates per firm protocols.
- Update and maintain the docket based on filing receipts, confirmations, attorney/paralegal instructions, and other official notices.
- Monitor daily/ongoing docket reports to track and meet all critical deadlines.
- Conduct regular (e.g., monthly) status reviews of active patent, trademark, and other IP files.
- Manage correspondence flow, file transfers, client/internal inquiries, and report generation.
- Accurately save and organize documents in the firm's electronic management system.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 3 years of IP docketing experience in a law firm or legal services environment.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. and international patent/trademark prosecution processes, rules, and procedures.
- Proficiency in calculating dates, interpreting rules/instructions, and maintaining high attention to detail under volume.
- Excellent organizational, proofreading, and follow-through skills; ability to handle routine tasks with sustained focus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with IP docketing databases (e.g., CIP, FIP, Inprotech, or similar) highly preferred.
