We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Fire Suppression & Special Hazards Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing effective fire suppression systems to ensure safety and compliance with regulations in various industrial settings. This role requires expertise in AutoCAD and a strong understanding of fire protection principles and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and design fire suppression systems using AutoCAD and other design software.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations to ensure system efficacy and compliance with local codes and NFPA standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess project requirements and create detailed design specifications.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, schematics, and calculations for fire protection systems.
- Stay informed of current industry trends, technologies, and code requirements related to fire protection.
- Participate in site inspections and provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases.
- Assist in the development of project schedules and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in fire protection system design and implementation, preferably in an industrial context.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit and Navisworks is a plus.
- Understanding of NFPA codes and standards related to fire safety and suppression.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills to perform hydraulic calculations.
- NICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, contractors, and clients.
