Position Overview

The Fire Sprinkler Foreman coordinates project activities, ensures code compliance, mentors technicians, and acts as the primary onsite contact to deliver projects on schedule, on budget, and to the required level of workmanship for fire protection systems.

Position Overview

The Fire Sprinkler Foreman coordinates project activities, ensures code compliance, mentors technicians, and acts as the primary onsite contact to deliver projects on schedule, on budget, and to the required level of workmanship for fire protection systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and schedule fire sprinkler installation and service crews; assign daily tasks and monitor progress to meet project milestones.
- Interpret technical drawings, hydraulic calculations, and specifications to plan installations in accordance with NFPA 13 and project documents.
- Oversee installation of sprinkler piping, fittings, hangers, valves, escutcheons, and sprinkler heads, ensuring work meets fire protection standards and manufacturer recommendations.
- Perform and supervise system pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning activities; document test results and corrective actions.
- Conduct regular on-site safety briefings, enforce OSHA and company safety policies, and ensure PPE and safe work practices are followed.
- Coordinate with general contractors, inspectors, engineers, and building owners to resolve issues, schedule inspections, and facilitate smooth project delivery.
- Inspect workmanship for quality control, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective measures to maintain high standards of installation.
- Manage material needs including verification of deliveries, inventory control, and reporting shortages to project managers to avoid work stoppages.
- Train crew members on installation techniques, code requirements (including NFPA 13), proper tool use, and troubleshooting of sprinkler systems.
- Prepare and maintain daily reports, time sheets, as-built notes, deficiency lists, and other project documentation.
- Respond to service calls and troubleshoot deteriorations, leaks, or system performance issues; provide clear recommendations and supervise repairs.
- Ensure compliance with local fire codes, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures during all phases of work.
- 5 years of hands-on experience installing and servicing fire sprinkler systems, with previous experience as a foreman or lead technician preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 13 and other relevant fire protection standards and local codes.
- Proven skills with sprinkler tools and installation techniques including cutting, threading, grooving, welding/brazing (as applicable), hanging and support practices.
- Prior experience conducting hydrostatic/air tests, system commissioning, and documenting test results.
- Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and hydraulic calculations.
- Demonstrated leadership and crew management skills with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
- NICET certification (Level II or higher) or equivalent fire protection certification is a plus.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; ability to travel to multiple job sites as required.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training preferred; CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
- Physical ability to perform field work including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients, inspectors, and project stakeholders and for mentoring crew members.
