Fire Alarm Technicians handle a range of installation, maintenance and repair duties for fire alarm systems. While they might vary from one company to the next, some common Fire Alarm Technician responsibilities include:
- Installing all components of fire alarm systems, including control panels and sensors
- Wiring, programming and calibrating the equipment
- Teaching customers how to use the fire alarm system
- Inspecting and testing fire alarm systems to ensure proper functioning
- Diagnosing the causes of a malfunctioning system
- Repairing problems with wiring, broken components and other issues
- Completing documentation of installations, inspections and repairs
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- At least three years of related work experience required
- Minimum of NICET Level I - Fire Alarm Certification.
- Knowledge of current state regulations and codes.
- Ability to read schematics and follow written direction while working under minor supervision.
- Must be willing to travel as required
- Salary: $28 - $40 / hr
