Position Overview
The Estimator is responsible for analyzing project specifications and requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects, particularly in the public works sector. This role involves collaborating with project managers and stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of the project's budget are considered and accurately reflected in the estimates, contributing to the successful planning and execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze project plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather project requirements and clarify any uncertainties.
- Analyze historical data to inform cost estimates and identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings to discuss project scope, timelines, and budgeting.
- Continuously update and maintain estimating databases to ensure accuracy and efficiency in future bids.
- Provide support during the bidding process, including responding to inquiries from contractors and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry, preferably with public works projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
