Position Overview
The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting safety practices within the organization. This role focuses on the development and implementation of health and safety programs, monitoring environmental performance, and fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship among employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement health and safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and environmental standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and assess risk levels in the workplace.
- Collaborate with project managers to integrate EHS considerations into project planning and execution.
- Provide training to employees on safety practices, environmental awareness, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage documentation and reporting related to environmental compliance, including GenSuite and EPA submissions.
- Oversee storm water and waste water management practices to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Handle workers' compensation claims and facilitate return-to-work programs in compliance with FMLA and other regulations.
- Promote lean manufacturing practices to enhance efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Focus on environmental safety including waste and storm water management.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA regulations, and environmental management systems.
- Familiarity with GenSuite and other EHS software tools.
- Project management experience with the ability to lead initiatives and drive change.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
