Location: Remote - United States (preference for candidates new major convention markets such as Las Vegas, Orlando, Chicago, Anaheim, or other high-traffic show cities)

Role Summary
We are expanding our national sales organization and seeking a highly experienced Director of Business Development to lead, scale, and elevate a team of hunters focused on securing net-new business in the custom tradeshow exhibit/booth and experiential environment space.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will build, coach, and manage a high-performance sales team while also contributing directly to pipeline creation, strategic pursuits, and major account wins. Your success will be measured by your ability to drive consistent outbound activity, strengthen pipeline quality, and deliver predictable revenue growth in the custom exhibit market.
Primary Focus
- Custom 20x20 and/or large exhibit/booth configurations
- Strategic enterprise-level opportunities across technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and other exhibit-heavy verticals
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, develop, and lead a team of high-performing sales executives focused on new lead/client generation
- Establish and enforce daily/weekly outbound activity expectations to ensure a strong top-of-funnel pipeline
- Drive a culture of urgency, accountability, and consistent execution across the sales organization
- Oversee the full sales lifecycle across the team: prospecting -> qualification -> discovery -> design collaboration -> proposal -> negotiation -> close
- Maintain team-level KPIs including 4-6 qualified new meetings per rep per week
- Partner closely with internal design, strategy, estimating, and project teams to deliver tailored, high-quality custom exhibit solutions
- Walk major trade shows (including install days) to coach your team, identify opportunities, and build relationships with company-provided badges
- Deliver accurate weekly and monthly forecasts, ensuring pipeline health and realistic close probabilities
- Support your team in retaining accounts post-sale while continuing to drive new business growth
- Travel as need for client meetings, team development, and key industry events
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 5 years of sales leadership at a reputable custom exhibit house, managing new business development teams
- Proven track record leading hunters who consistently deliver $2M - $4M in annual custom exhibit revenue
- Deep understanding of custom exhibit fabrication, rental systems, large-format graphics, and integrated show services
- Demonstrated ability to coach reps through full-cycle sales ownership - from cold outreach to close
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with design, estimating, and production teams
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the resilience, drive, and competitiveness required to build and scale a high-performing team
- Authorized to work in the United States (US-based candidates only)
Nice-to-Haves
- Existing relationships with corporate event/marketing leaders, agencies, or trade show organizers
- Proximity to major convention centers for in-person prospecting
- Experience building a sales team from the ground up
- Familiarity with HubSpot, Apollo, or similar sales engagement platforms
