Data Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our data team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures that support data analysis and business intelligence activities. You will work closely with data scientists and analysts to ensure data is accessible and reliable for decision-making processes. This role will be in person on site at our Irvine offices as it is necessary to really understand our business and that is best done in person.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop ETL processes to move and transform data from various sources into a centralized data repository.
• Build and maintain data models that support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
• Perform data analysis to identify trends and insights that can inform business decisions.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and provide solutions.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data pipeline.
• Implement and optimize data storage solutions using technologies like NoSQL and relational databases.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong skills in ETL, Data Modeling, and Data Analysis.
• Familiarity with SQL for querying databases.
• Experience with Python and/or Apache Spark for data processing.
• Knowledge of data pipeline architectures and Big Data technologies.
• Familiarity with Hadoop and NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Understanding of Kafka and its role in data streaming.
• Basic knowledge of Machine Learning concepts and Business Intelligence tools is a plus.
