We are seeking an experienced Controls Specialist to join a dynamic Building Automation team. This role is responsible for the successful installation, commissioning, and servicing of Building Management Systems (BMS) in data centers and other critical environments. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and problem-solver who takes ownership of their work and delivers high-quality results in a collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform checkout, startup, and testing of BMS DDC controllers across a range of mechanical systems.
- Develop, test, and commission control programs based on complex sequences of operation.
- Configure and launch graphical user interfaces, including BMS servers and touchscreen displays.
- Provide daily updates and status reports to project leadership.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and team members.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to project close-out deliverables.
- Prepare and follow detailed Method of Procedure (MOP) and Change Management (CM) documentation.
- Conduct commissioning activities including Pre-functional, Functional, and Integrated Systems Testing.
- Perform routine maintenance and service of BMS systems in active data center environments.
- Support multiple concurrent projects across Eastern Oregon and Washington.
- Adhere to strict security protocols in high-security environments.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred; alternatively, a two-year technical degree/apprenticeship plus equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in automation/controls).
- 5 years of experience in programming, startup, and testing of BMS or PLC systems.
- Tridium Niagara AX/N4 certification and Distech ECLYPSE experience strongly preferred; Siemens or Schneider experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with BACnet and/or Modbus protocols and third-party systems integration.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems with excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in computer operating systems and networking.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; experience with MS Project or other project management tools is a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MS Visio, or Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel locally within Eastern Oregon and Washington, with occasional overnight stays.
- Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug screening, a satisfactory Washington State motor vehicle record, and a background check.

Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
