Construction Project Manager - OSHPD
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex healthcare construction projects, including hospitals, clinics and other clinical facilities. The role is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget and quality while ensuring strict adherence to healthcare regulations, patient safety and OSHPD requirements. The ideal candidate will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with clinical stakeholders, and drive projects to successful completion with minimal disruption to ongoing healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full project lifecycle for healthcare construction projects from preconstruction and design through construction and closeout.
- Ensure compliance with OSHPD regulations and submission/approval processes, including coordination with OSHPD plan reviewers and inspectors when applicable.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets; proactively identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and report status to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with hospital leadership, clinical staff, architects, engineers and contractors to integrate clinical needs and minimize operational impacts.
- Oversee contractor selection, contract administration, change order management, and dispute resolution.
- Implement and enforce safety, infection control (ICRA), life-safety and quality assurance programs on-site.
- Review and manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings and testing/commissioning activities to ensure design intent and regulatory compliance.
- Manage permitting, inspections and documentation required for regulatory approvals and facility turnover.
- Prepare regular project reports, financial forecasts, and executive summaries for clients and senior management.
- Lead commissioning, punch-list completion, turnover and closeout activities, including preparation of as-built documentation and O&M manuals.
- Mentor junior project staff, promote best practices, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of construction project management experience in healthcare facilities; experience managing hospital projects strongly preferred.
- Direct experience with OSHPD compliance, plan review and approval process is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of healthcare codes, standards and best practices including NFPA, ICRA, Life Safety, ADA and relevant state/local codes.
- Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules and construction contracts; familiarity with cost control and change management.
- Proficiency with project controls and scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) and construction management software; familiarity with BIM/Revit is beneficial.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable coordinating with clinical teams and senior hospital leadership.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred and a strong commitment to jobsite safety and infection control protocols.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel between project sites as required.
