Collections Attorney

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Collections Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in collections law and litigation, with the ability to use sound judgement for each case. This role involves working closely with clients to navigate the complexities of debt recovery and ensuring the best possible outcomes in collections cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the firm's debt recovery cases from initial demand through litigation and post-judgment collection.
• Communicate effectively with clients regarding their accounts, providing updates and strategic advice on collection efforts.
• Negotiate settlement offers with clients to facilitate timely recovery of outstanding receivables.
• Prepare and file legal documents, including complaints and motions, to initiate and support litigation efforts.
• Represent clients in court hearings and mediations related to collections matters.
• Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in collections laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Develop strategies for efficient post-judgment collection efforts, including wage garnishments and asset seizures.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active attorney license in NJ; plus for NY admission.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in collections law and litigation.
• Proven track record of successful debt recovery and negotiation skills.
• Strong client communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Knowledge of relevant collections laws and regulations.
