Position Overview
The CMM Programmer is responsible for programming, setting up, and executing dimensional inspection programs to verify compliance of manufactured parts, tooling, and related components with engineering drawings and quality requirements. This role supports high-precision manufacturing environments serving regulated commercial and government programs. The position requires strong technical expertise in CMM programming, close-tolerance inspection, GD and T interpretation, and quality system compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and execute CMM inspection programs to support dimensional verification of manufactured components.
- Program, set up, and inspect parts using coordinate measuring machines and associated inspection software.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections using CMM equipment and conventional inspection tools.
- Complete full part setups, establish inspection starting points, and determine part acceptability.
- Conduct surface table layouts and utilize precision inspection equipment for manual inspection tasks.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD and T requirements per applicable standards.
- Work to close tolerance requirements and follow special inspection instructions when required.
- Prepare and complete inspection documentation, including First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102.
- Apply statistical quality control methods and support compliance with ISO and AS quality system requirements.
- Support model based inspection initiatives as required.
- Utilize laser tracking or portable measurement equipment when applicable.
- Manage multiple inspection priorities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and schedule adherence.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with modern CMM equipment and inspection programming.
- Experience programming and operating Zeiss DB Series CMM systems using Calypso software preferred.
- Proficiency with precision inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and related equipment.
- Advanced shop mathematics skills and strong attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of statistical quality control principles and applicable military or aerospace specifications.
- Thorough understanding of ISO 9000 and AS9100 quality system requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and GD and T.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of discipline, accuracy, and professionalism in an inspection role.
- U.S. Person status required due to ITAR and export control regulations.
