Accounts Payable Specialist

$24-26 per hour
Employment Type: Hourly, non-exempt
Location: Elkridge, MD (Onsite)
 

Position Overview
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for performing routine and full-cycle accounts payable activities using a working knowledge of accounting principles and company practices. This role works under the supervision of the Staff Accountant to ensure accurate, complete, and compliant financial records. This is a full-time position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle accounts payable
• Review and verify invoices for accuracy, approvals, and documentation
• Prepare and execute weekly vendor payments
• Post transactions and resolve invoice, purchase order, and payment discrepancies
• Manage company credit card program, including expense coding and payments
• Maintain vendor relationships
• Maintain organized electronic records per record retention policies
• Calculate, report, and remit sales tax on paid invoices
• Process approximately 300 to 400 invoices per month
• Prepare and process annual 1099 forms
• Perform monthly expense analysis

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist with accounting procedures, documentation, and forms
• Generate miscellaneous invoices and credit memos
• Collaborate with internal teams as needed

Skills and Qualifications

• 1 years of accounts payable experience
• Basic understanding of accounting principles
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient data entry skills
• Experience with ERP systems required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or services environments
