Based on the characteristics of risks and market dynamics, the underwriter will establish suitable coverage terms, conditions, and pricing. The management of a portfolio will be critical to meet profitability and growth objectives. Performance metrics, loss ratios, and compliance with underwriting standards will be closely monitored. Any negative trends will need to be identified and addressed, with corrective actions implemented as required. Additionally, the underwriter will serve as a knowledgeable resource for junior underwriters and their assistants. It will be essential to deliver training and advice on both underwriting best practices and the specifics of construction-related risks, ensuring all decisions adhere to company policies, regulatory obligations, and risk appetite.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline is required. Candidates should have at least 7 years of underwriting experience, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to construction GL risks. A successful history of managing intricate accounts and substantial projects is necessary, alongside robust analytical and negotiation skills. An in-depth comprehension of construction operations, contractual risk transfer, and insurance requirements is essential. Proficiency with rating tools, underwriting software, and Microsoft Office Suite is expected. CPCU, AU, or RPLU designations are preferred.
