Are you an attorney specializing in corporate compliance, insurance regulation, and case law who is looking for a new opportunity? Are you weary of the daily commute to NYC? Our client is in search of someone like you to offer legal counsel on various insurance-related matters, such as underwriting, claims management, reinsurance, and regulatory compliance for a national property casualty insurance organization based in New York. You will be responsible for tracking and analyzing shifts in insurance regulations, case law, and industry developments to guide business operations and risk management strategies. You'll also oversee corporate governance activities, including those involving the Board of Directors, state compliance, and internal operations. This role includes preparing and submitting regulatory filings, applications, and ensuring compliance on a state-by-state basis.
Candidates should hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school. A minimum of 7 years in insurance law, particularly concentrated on corporate and regulatory compliance, is required. An active bar admission, ideally in New York State, is necessary. Candidates must possess strong analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities. Experience in a legal department within a corporation or an insurance firm is preferred. A solid understanding of insurance law and regulatory systems is essential. Exceptional interpersonal skills are crucial for fostering relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners. Additionally, strong organizational abilities are necessary to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
