Warehouse Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for developing warehousing strategies and coordinating warehouse activities in support of the site. The role reports to the Site Procurement Manager, and has several direct reports located at the site with different accountabilities. The safety of these direct reports and other personnel entering the warehouse, or associated grounds shall be a top priority for the Warehouse Manager. The Warehouse Manager supervises the activities of inventory control, purchasing of materials and an hourly workforce consisting performing duties of Material Handlers. The Warehouse Manager will oversee Routine Maintenance, Turnarounds, and Capital Projects inventories in a way that optimizes the investment of the company but does not negatively impact the efficiency of these activities.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree or 8 years' experience in warehouse / maintenance / procurement environment preferred.
• Professional certifications are a plus (CPIM, CPSM, CPCM, etc.)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Three to five years supervisory experience
• Customer Service focused management style
• Computer Proficiencies: MS Office products, as well as knowledge of, and experience with, a computerized inventory management system, such as Oracle, Maximo, etc. required
• Experience and understanding of inventory stocking level evaluation process
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of accepted ethical purchasing policies and procedures
• Ability to adjust work schedule to meet business needs
• Fluent in English, oral and written, required
• Effective communicator and negotiator in terms of both verbal and written skills

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, guidelines SoX and other requirements related to warehousing and material control.
• Establish warehouse strategies and organizational goals; develop/track key performance indicators (KPI); utilize root cause analysis to improve performance. Develop short- and long-term plans to increase the efficiency and optimization of warehousing functions and inventory; engage workforce in pursuing continuous improvement; strive to achieve best in class status.
• Supervise warehouse technicians for inventory replenishment ensuring that the expected standards of job performance and safety are met. Provide coaching to employees; participate in performance management process/discussions and in the selection process for staffing of future open positions.
• Provide oversight on warehouse daily operations including the management of goods receipts, goods issues, picklists, kitting, expediting, cycle counting, stock put away, logistics, catalyst, and quality control/assurance.
• Monitor workloads as needed to ensure the success of the group.
• Support internal Business Partners (Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, etc.). Collaborate and effectively communicate with them to create robust, sustainable relationships. Be proactive and understand organizational needs and plan/align material management strategies to business partner goals. Including attending planning meetings to help ensure parts are available for scheduled work.
• Provide oversight on the management of material master creations/updates/deletions, daily Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), cycle counting, obsolete/surplus material management, the site rental program, repairs/refurbishments, and running reports as needed.
• Be available 24/7 for plant emergencies. For outages and turnarounds, schedule and coordinate expanded work hours to ensure warehouse coverage.
• Review data entry of new warehouse stock items. Ensure compliance to process. Identify and manage obsolete stock disbursement process.
• Review invoices for plant material for entry into Maximo / Oracle payable system.
• Works with Procurement to ensure requests for quotations (RFQs) and competitive bidding occurs appropriately
• for stock items.
• Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers.
• Interface with plant accounting and support monthly expense reporting.
• Schedule periodic reviews with contract service provider to communicate acceptable performance levels and immediately address any service or quality issues.
• Optimize and maintain facilities (warehouses, laydown yards, chemical/catalyst storage, turnaround-TAR, temporary storage areas, offsite storage sites, and pipe yards); ensure stationary and mobile equipment are maintained and replaced, as necessary. Coordinate with Supply Chain Director in developing warehouse budget; maintain financial discipline to meet the budget. Participate, plan, and execute material and equipment acquisition for turnarounds and plant outages.

EXPECTED RESULTS

• Compliance to all required guidelines and running KPI's to demonstrate this compliance.
• Effective communication with maintenance department to ensure efficient and timely repairs and maintenance to plant equipment.
• Support, both directly and indirectly, the maintenance planning schedule including kitting and other methods to ensure parts are available for work.
• Manage warehouse staff who are appropriately trained and motivated to achieve desired objectives
• Continual improvement storage space utilization of spare parts to provide a clean, safe, organized, well maintained facility.
