Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, exceptional attention to detail, and advanced QuickBooks experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Analyze financial data and investigate account variances
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and account reconciliations
- Assist with financial reporting and management reporting packages
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records
- Support external audits and provide requested documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
- Strong QuickBooks experience required
- 3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs preferred
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Lending, financial services, banking, or mortgage industry experience is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 annually
