Job Summary
This position serves and supports CVCA by providing safety, security, and law enforcement services. The SRO works to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the community while promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, founded in 1968, is a private, college-preparatory, non-denominational Christian middle and high school that seeks to Educate and Cultivate Servants for Christ. Students meet rigorous admissions standards both academically and spiritually. CVCA’s 1,170 students, of whom 20% represent minority populations, come from a nine-county area. Our facilities include state-of-the-art technology, seven science labs, Innovation Lab, a 31,000 square-foot fieldhouse and competition gymnasium, a 600-seat chapel/auditorium, and 70 acres of sports facilities, including a turf stadium and all-weather track. CVCA is fully committed to maintaining an ethnically/culturally diverse faculty and student body within a biblical community.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Demonstrate behavior aligned with CVCA’s mission statement, statement of faith, core values, policies, and expectations.
- Faithfully uphold CVCA in prayer.
- Provide security daily during school hours for the school.
- In collaboration with CVCA Administration, help to oversee campus safety and security, including policies and practices, and recommend continuous improvements and enhancements to campus security protocols.
- Assist and help implement, plan, and execute the nine safety drills we need to complete each year (assistance with drills, education, and training).
- Be prepared to interact with students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a professional, friendly manner, applying appropriate judgment and professional experience to each interaction.
- Be prepared to assist with addressing known or suspected illegal activity on campus; Identify potential threats, both internal and external, in collaboration with the CVCA Administration as needed.
- Consult with the Administration on matters of safety, security, and crisis management.
- Perform all duties of a Security Officer as needed, including flexible hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends).
- Perform special projects as may be determined from time to time.
- Follow additional guidelines as outlined in the “daily responsibilities.”

- Significant law enforcement experience
- Ohio Peace Officers Training Certification
- Work is typically performed in a conventional school environment
- Able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 20 lbs
