Role Description
This is a full-time contract role based in Los Angeles, CA. You'll work primarily remotely, but you must be based in LA, or willing to relocate. Since we'll occasionally need you on-site for in-person discussions and shoots. As our Post Production Manager, you will serve as our lead video editor while overseeing the end-to-end post-production process to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery. You will manage video production timelines, coordinate with production teams, and optimize workflows to maintain peak efficiency.
Because we are building the future of video creation, a deep interest and hands-on experience in the AI world is an absolute must. You will collaborate closely with internal product teams and external stakeholders to meet creative and strategic objectives, seamlessly blending traditional storytelling with cutting-edge AI tools, including our own AI video editor, Selects, to shape how video production evolves.
Job Responsibilities:
- Post-Production Management: Oversee the end-to-end post-production workflow. Manage video production timelines, allocate resources, and coordinate with internal and external teams to maintain efficiency.
- Brand & Social Editing: Lead the editing of brand campaigns, product marketing content, and social-first pieces with a sharp eye for storytelling and brand consistency.
- AI Integration & Innovation: Actively test, implement, and stay ahead of emerging AI video editing tools and generative AI workflows. Apply these tools to enhance efficiency, push creative boundaries, and provide valuable user feedback to our product development team.
- Social-First Storytelling: Tailor edits for specific platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, etc.), optimizing for performance and engagement while keeping Cutback's voice at the forefront.
- Creative Vision: Shape narrative and emotional impact through editing choices, ensuring every piece connects and resonates with our audience of modern creators and video professionals.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with Product, Marketing, and Leadership to bring campaigns from concept to final cut.
- Trend Awareness: Stay ahead of evolving editing styles, cultural trends, AI advancements, and platform best practices to keep Cutback at the cutting edge.
- Production Support: Assist with gear prep, organization, setups, rentals, and light troubleshooting for occasional in-house shoots when needed.
Requirements:
- Experience: 5 years in video editing, post-production management, or creative production (agency or tech brand experience strongly preferred).
- Product Fluency: Hands-on proficiency with Selects, Cutback's AI video editor. You should be comfortable editing in Selects day-to-day and eager to push it to its limits.
- AI Expertise & Passion: Demonstrated strong interest in the AI world with practical experience using AI tools to enhance video editing workflows. You must be passionate about how AI is transforming the creator economy.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve for color; After Effects or motion design skills are a strong plus.
- Project Management Skills: Exceptional organizational and problem-solving capabilities, including proficiency in managing timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Storytelling Mastery: Proven ability to craft brand-oriented, social-first content and adapt storytelling across multiple platforms. Strong grasp of editorial pacing, music, and emotional impact.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.
- Production Skills: Comfortable with occasional on-location shoots (camera operation experience helpful but not primary).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Media Studies, or a related field preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
