Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, the Laboratory Analyst plays a critical role in producing accurate, reliable results, managing sample workflows, and contributing to the lab's overall success.
Accountable Functions And Responsibilities
- The lab analyst must uphold strict confidentiality concerning all laboratory operations, analytical data, client information, and proprietary methods. Adherence to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 confidentiality requirements is mandatory, and any breach may result in disciplinary action.
- Perform routine and advanced analytical testing using instrumentation such as HPLC, LC-QqQ/MS, GC/MS, and ICP/MS.
- Accurately prepare samples, standards, and reagents in accordance with established protocols.
- Interpret and document test results, ensuring compliance with quality control requirements.
- Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex and non-routine issues to higher levels.
- Oversee and manage the flow of customer samples coming into the lab.
- Log incoming samples and ensure proper labeling and tracking.
- Collaborate with the Business Unit Manager to prioritize testing schedules based on client deadlines and laboratory capacity.
- Under direct supervision of the Business Unit Manager, perform development, modification, verification, and validation of analytical methods to meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Submits analyses and interpreted results, including issuing statements of conformity, opinions, and interpretations, in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 to the Business Unit Manager for approval.
- Optimize existing methods for improved efficiency and accuracy.
- Requisitions chemicals and other necessary laboratory supplies.
- Adhere to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards, ensuring proper documentation and record keeping.
- Participate in internal audits and contribute to the resolution of non-conformance issues.
- Maintain accurate records and data.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment.
- Ensure instruments are calibrated and functioning properly, notifying management of any issues.
- Work closely with the Business Unit Manager and other team members to meet client deadlines.
- Communicate effectively about testing progress, results, and challenges.
- Support training efforts for junior staff or interns as needed.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline, or an A.S. degree in a related scientific discipline with 2 years’ of laboratory experience.
- Experience with regulatory, QA, and cGMP Current Good Manufacturing Practices requirements for food and Pharmaceuticals.
- Hands-on experience with HPLC, GC/MS, LC-QqQ/MS, and/or ICP-MS preferred.
- Ability and willingness to work self-supervised in a fast-paced dynamic environment with changing priorities, forward thinking with flexibility.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software for data entry.
- High security analytical laboratory located in a food grade facility in Reading, PA

- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle light to moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs).
