The position will report directly to the Controller and provide leadership across the CPS organization in the areas of employee relations, compliance, safety, benefits, training, and organizational development.
The Human Resources Manager will also directly support the human resources recruitment, benefits administration, and training staff.

- Champion a culture of inclusion, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with business leaders to support workforce planning, career development paths, and performance management practices.
- Identify and implement initiatives that improve employee experience and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
- Support a positive and welcoming onboarding process for new employees, delivering high-impact orientation experiences.
- Collaborate across the organization to design, implement, and communicate people policies that reflect company values and support a positive workplace.
- Identify and lead improvements to policies and procedures that enhance efficiency, fairness, and compliance.
- Ensure company compliance with current and upcoming changes to state and federal wage and hour laws, OSHA, employment law, and EEO reporting requirements.
- Reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance of required postings, policies, practices, and procedures. Work directly with CPS external legal team.
- Encourage employees to work within the management structure as the first step in resolving employee relations issues. Provide direct support as needed.
- Coach supervisory staff on performance management and employee relations.
- Lead investigations as needed with fairness, discretion, and a focus on resolution and improvement.
- Conduct accommodation discussions with employees, ensuring appropriate documentation is retained and ADA law is followed.
- Conduct stays (60 and 90-day check in) and exit interviews and prove key 360 feedback to CPS.
- Manage the FMLA process through advisement, provide complete and timely FMLA forms (other than the physician’s certification portion), and follow up to ensure the forms are delivered timely. Utilize existing systems to track FMLA time. Ensure that benefits premiums collections are communicated to employees on leave.
- Collaborate with the Safety Leader and external partners to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims thoughtfully, supporting employees through recovery and return-to-work plans.
- Lead or support HR projects as they arise including health and wellness incentive programs.
- Coordinate with Payroll to ensure that pay information is given to the insurer if needed.
- Manage escalated claims and collaborate with legal counsel when needed.
- Partner with our broker and benefits providers to deliver smooth annual open enrollment and meaningful employee education sessions.
- Assist employees with benefit questions and provide benefit resources as needed.
- Monitor monthly insurance invoicing and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain accurate and organized employee records in compliance with applicable laws.
- Support internal audits, unemployment claim responses, and timely reporting.
- Use data and reports to inform HR strategy and measure the impact of people programs.
- Develop Human Resource materials, presentations, and general information about the company.
- Deliver an informative and positive new hire first day orientation and onboarding experience.
- Create and manage internal communications that boost awareness, transparency, and engagement.
- Attend appropriate HR learning sessions, such as those delivered by the local chapter of SHRM, the company’s law firm or other resources.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Human Resource Management from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
- Professional certification (SHRM preferred)
- Must have 5 years’ experience in compliance
- 5 years’ experience supporting 100 employees or more in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with national and local legislation, including EEO, Workers’ Comp, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, UC, etc.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts
- Positive and professional communication skills, both oral and written
- Action Bias and a Sense of urgency
- Ability to maintain/manage confidential information
- Strong time management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat, HRIS and ATS; Paycor/Paylocity knowledge a plus
