What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabricator position at Custom Cut Fabrication?
We are seeking a highly skilled Fabricator with at least 10 years of hands-on experience in steel fabrication. This individual will be responsible for leading complex fabrication projects, ensuring accuracy, safety, and quality at every stage. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of mentoring less experienced team members.
Responsibilities:
· Fabricate and assemble platforms, ductwork, handrails, hoppers, transitions, and other custom steel projects.
· Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and cut lists with accuracy.
· Perform welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core) and finishing operations to meet high-quality standards.
· Operate shop equipment including roll, plasma, press brakes, shears, and saws.
· Inspect workpieces using precision measuring tools to ensure quality control.
· Take a lead role in complex fabrication projects, guiding and mentoring junior fabricators.
· Work closely with project managers and supervisors to meet deadlines and maintain production flow.
· Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
· Assist in improving processes, efficiency, and shop organization.
Qualifications:
· Minimum 10 years of experience in steel fabrication.
· Advanced welding skills across multiple processes.
· Strong ability to read and work from blueprints and shop drawings.
· Experience with CNC cutting equipment (fiber laser and plasma preferred).
· Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
· High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
· Knowledge of shop safety practices and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
· AWS welding certifications.
· Previous experience in a custom fabrication shop environment.
· Familiarity with advanced fabrication and inspection tools.
