What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Day Manual VTL Machinist position at CUST-O-FAB?
Is responsible for setting up and operating Manual VTL machines:
- Wear proper PPE at all times on shop floor and follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Read prints for required specifications and dimensions
- Set up parts and make layouts according to print for specifications
- Operate Manual Mill machines
- Measure parts using different measuring tools (tape measure, dial calipers, dial indicators, micrometers)
- Operate overhead cranes on daily basis to load machines with parts
- Cut supports to lengths needed using a hot saw
- Occasionally operate forklifts
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned, which may include performing basic tasks when such a need arises
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be a highly safety-oriented individual
- 2 years minimum experience in manual machining preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability and willingness to follow directions
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
- Verbal communication skills
Physical requirements
Ability to lift 50 lbs., sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, etc. Work environment may include high noise areas, working at heights, confined spaces, congested work sites, shift work, duration rotations, shop setting, etc.
