What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Shift Welder position at CUST-O-FAB?
Welders are required to be safety minded, highly productive experts who can cut, fit, and tack weld all parts of heat exchangers, vessels, and towers.
- Wear proper PPE at all times on shop floor and follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Read blueprints and weld procedures to ensure all welds are completed to required specifications
- Set up welding equipment, prepare materials and maintain a clean workstation to ensure proper welding
- Perform weld processes to fabricate or repair shell & tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and/or towers while maintaining less than a 5% x-ray repair rate
- Work with QC personnel to ensure quality is maintained on all welds
- Complete assigned work within given time frame and according to specifications
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned, which may include performing basic tasks when such a need arises
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be a highly safety-oriented individual
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience welding pressure vessels or heat exchanger components
- Moderate knowledge and ability to weld with some, but not all, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW & SAW thermal processes in the manufacturing of various types of pressure vessels and heat exchangers
- Ability to pass a weld qualification test to acquire code stamp
- Ability to read prints for both required specifications as well as dimensions
- Ability to weld within the parameters of a WPS/PQR
- Skills in arc gouging process
- Ability to be a self-motivated and highly productive employee who requires moderate supervision and who can efficiently execute a plan to make jobs happen on time within the hours given
- Ability to be a team player who can work well with others to achieve company goals
- Ability to consistently maintain less than a 5% X-Ray repair rate
- Ability to be efficient at fixing X-Ray and UT repairs
- Ability to recognize and rectify sub-standard welds to ensure product quality
- Ability to be punctual and dependent with a willingness to work hours outside of a standard schedule when required to achieve a task or complete a project
