Lead Quality Inspector- Defense Electronics-Onsite
We have a rewarding opportunity to for a Lead Quality Inspector to join our team in Santa Clarita, CA!
As our Lead Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for the day-to-day general leadership and guidance of the inspection team and heavily involved in performing inspections of a variety of material and assemblies at receiving, in-process, and final inspection to ensure compliance with internal, customer and AS9100 aerospace regulatory requirements. This role combines hands-on inspection with supervisory experience with a strong focus on driving quality improvement through collaboration and root cause thinking.
This position will also assist with general Quality Systems functions such as product certification, document control, internal auditing, specification review, and others on an as-needed basis.

Salary Range: $ 25.38 - $33.85 per hour

Your Challenge:
- Lead and coordinate quality assurance activities across receiving, in-process, and final inspection stages
- Provide guidance and training to quality inspectors and production staff on quality standards and procedures
- Mentor team members, collaborate cross-functionally, and serve as a key partner to the Production and planning teams in implementing best practices and resolving quality challenges
- Act as a subject matter expert for quality systems and compliance requirements
- Create and/or maintain Quality Management System (QMS)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines
- Must be accurate and have excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage with employees, other department managers and senior management.
- Strong decision-making skills and results -driven in order to work under deadlines.

Quality Control & Inspection
- Interprets purchase orders, work instructions, engineering drawings, specifications, and standards to ensure accurate inspection
- Oversee inspections of materials, components, and finished products using standard measuring equipment.
- Uses calibrated measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, microscopes, calipers, height gauges) to verify part conformity to specifications
- Complete inspection reports and MES/SAP transactions
Nonconformance & Corrective Action Management
- Identify discrepancies and generate nonconformances
- Initiate, track, and close Corrective Action Requests (CARs) while driving root cause analysis and preventive measures
- Manage nonconforming material processes, including MRB activities and timely resolution of issues
Auditing & Compliance
- Supports internal/external audits to assess compliance with AS9100, company processes and other applicable standards.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Prepared inspection summaries, quality metrics, and trend analyses for management review Utilizing ERP systems to extract data and generate quality performance reports
- Recommend process improvements based on data-driven insights
Continuous Improvement
- Champion process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and improve operational efficiency
- Collaborated with engineering and production teams to implement continuous improvement
- Ensure inspection devices are properly calibrated and maintained
- Validate compliance to inspection protocols and quality procedures
What you Bring:
- Associate degree or technical certification preferred; high school diploma required
- In lieu of degree, a Minimum of 5 years in quality assurance or inspection, with at least 2 years in leadership or supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of technical drawings, specifications, and standard measuring tools.
- Experience managing MRB processes and corrective actions
- IPC-A-610 certification
- Internal Auditor Certification (AS9100) preferred
- Proficient with Agile, SAP S4 Hana and MES systems considered an advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent preferred
- Experience in quality, quality processes, and maintaining documentation systems, specifically in the aerospace & defense industry, is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of government, military, defense quality standards
- Experience in manufacturing environment
