Overview:

The Project Manager manages and controls assigned projects from award through completion, including client communication, supplier coordination, material planning, internal production tracking, rental and purchase inventory coordination, cost awareness, and coordination with Operations, Production, Yard, Logistics, and administrative teams. The Project Manager ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with customer expectations, company standards, contract requirements, project specifications, applicable DOT requirements, and industry standards.

Daily Duties:

Project Coordination and Client Management:

- Serve as the liaison between Curtin Co. and the client throughout the project lifecycle.

- Handle contractor and customer issues promptly and professionally, with a strong focus on customer service and resolution.

- Work with the Estimating and Contracts Manager to understand incoming projects, contract scope, plans, materials, timelines, and expectations.

- Review contracts and job plans with Operations, Production, Yard, Logistics, and other necessary personnel to support accurate planning and execution.

- Attend pre-construction meetings to track project changes and communicate updates to scheduling and administrative staff for forecasting and scheduling confirmations.

- Track all open jobs and submit closed job lists quarterly.


Material, Production, Rental, and Inventory Coordination:

- Purchase job-specific materials while seeking the best available pricing for each project.

- Coordinate with internal production teams and approved vendors to ensure job specific materials are produced, sourced, rented, purchased, staged, and ready when needed.

- Track and coordinate barrier and attenuator needs in conjunction with Operations and Yard staff on the open projects.

- Assist Yard personnel with tracking material needs, rental and purchase inventory, product condition, inventory accuracy, product staging, and project readiness.


Forecasting, Scheduling, and Operational Support:

- Support the forecast process and confirm that all job site information, product requirements, delivery needs, and schedule changes are communicated accurately and timely.

- Assist Estimating, Contracts, and Operation teams with forecast information and job updates.

- Coordinate with Operations, Yard, Logistics, and other personnel to support schedule accuracy, product readiness, delivery coordination, and project completion.

- Review production, delivery, and overtime reports to help maximize profitability on jobs.

- Facilitate Change Orders from the Operations side.


Quality, Safety, and Compliance:

- Maintain strong involvement in the quality assurance process and help determine root causes of project-related issues.

- Stay current on applicable DOT requirements, project specifications, customer requirements, company standards, and industry standards throughout the Company’s service area and communicate changes to appropriate staff.

- Maintain a full understanding and working knowledge of the Company’s Safety Policies and Procedures.

- Adhere to and promote company safety expectations, policies, and procedures at all times.

- Promote accurate documentation, accountability, and continuous improvement across project activities.


Leadership and Administration:

- Delegate clerical tasks and ensure completion.

- Be fully proficient in company software systems and promote consistent use and support of those systems.

- Maintain professionalism while working with multiple departments, priorities, deadlines, and project demands.

- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Position Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree preferred, Project Management Certification, or minimum five (5) years of construction or related experience.

- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory, project coordination, or cross-functional leadership experience preferred.

- Ability to read plans, understand construction drawings, interpret specifications, and communicate project requirements effectively.

- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, internet applications, inventory control systems, and accounting software; knowledge of HCSS applications preferred.- -Strong customer service skills with the ability to respond promptly to internal and external customer needs and meet commitments.

- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to speak clearly, respond well to questions, and participate effectively in meetings.

- Strong written communication skills with the ability to write clearly, edit for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively, and interpret written information.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to solve conflict, maintain confidentiality, listen actively, manage emotions, and remain open to new ideas and processes.

- Above average organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, follow directions accurately, and meet deadlines.

- Basic language, mathematical, and reasoning skills.

- Always make safety a priority.


Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements

- Regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

- Frequently move between office, yard, production, and job site environments as needed.

- Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance when observing yard, production, or field conditions.

- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

- Mental and visual attention is necessary to effectively complete work tasks.


Environmental Conditions:

- Work is performed in office, yard, construction site, and outdoor environments.

- While in the field, may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat with noise levels may occasionally loud.

- The employee will work inside a normal office environment for the bulk of duties.

- Wear protective or safety equipment as required, including steel tip safety boots, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and other PPE when in active jobsites or barrier yards.
