SUMMARY
Provides a safe and supportive environment for residents by assisting with activities of daily living, offering emotional and social support, and ensuring residents' physical comfort.
Vulnerable Adult Mandated Reporter
As a mandated reporter, this position is responsible for reporting any suspected or alleged maltreatment, neglect, or abuse of vulnerable adults. All concerns must be promptly reported to the supervisor and the appropriate state agencies in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Dental, hair, and nail care, shaving, dressing, undressing, and application of make-up
- Assists residents with elimination needs, including offering bedpans, urinals, or escorting residents to the bathroom.
- Provides mobility assistance, including ambulation, transfers, and positioning using assistive devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, mechanical lifts, gait belts, or lift sheets.
- Responds promptly to call lights and resident requests.
- Takes and records vital signs and temperatures as directed.
- Assists with feeding residents, records intake and output as requested, and weighs residents per instructions.
- Observes and promptly reports any physical or behavioral changes in residents to the charge nurse.
- Works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and all staff.
- Follows established lines of communication and authority within the facility.
- Performs all resident care as assigned and according to the facility's nursing department policies and procedures.
- Reads and follows residents' care plans and care cards.
- Participates in activities for cognitively impaired residents as directed.
- Attends department meetings, mandatory in-services, and educational seminars as requested.
- Adjusts work schedule or works overtime as needed to meet departmental needs.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident and facility information at all times.
- Ensures that all resident rights are maintained and reports any suspected violations according to facility policy.
- Follows all safety, security, and infection control policies and procedures, including Category 1 precautions.
- Demonstrates a desire and ability to care for geriatric, convalescent, chronically ill, or terminally ill residents with respect, compassion, and understanding.
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with residents, families, coworkers, and the public.
- Maintains a pleasant and professional manner, good grooming, and proper hygiene.
- Accepts constructive feedback and works cooperatively as part of a team.
- Performs all essential job functions safely, with or without reasonable accommodation, without posing a direct threat to self, residents, or others.
