Custom Profile, an employee-owned leader in thermoplastic profile extrusion and sub-assemblies, is a $65M custom plastic profile extrusion manufacturer headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan with three production facilities located in Grand Rapids, MI, Juarez, MX, and Camden, SC. Founded in 1992, we specialize in engineered profile solutions for industrial and medical customers requiring tight tolerances, material expertise, and reliable long-term production. The company currently does business with top OEM market players in multiple industrial market sectors.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for quality assurance of new and existing programs at all manufacturing stages to ensure the quality of their production meets engineering drawings and specifications. Support the company goals of Zero Defects and 100% On-Time Delivery within an ISO-9001 certified quality management system. This position will also assist the Quality Manager in overall quality system development.
- Provide problem solving support to manufacturing and our customers; assist QA department peers as requested.
- Perform on-site analysis of quality-related issues; lead/perform product containment activities and arrange for disposition.
- Lead problem-solving teams; use of QA methodologies to determine root cause(s) and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Work closely with Program/Quality Engineers in the design of QA best practices during new product launch, including the development of new gauging, workmanship standards, and work instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement, working within the company team to make it more efficient, safer and an enjoyable place to work.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 5 years of Quality or Manufacturing Engineering experience required; a suitable combination of education and experience will also be considered.
· Engineering or Quality related degree preferred but not required.
· Quality Certification (CQA, CQE, CQM) preferred

· Experience under an ISO/TS certified quality management system
· Adept in the use of a variety of quality measuring devices.

· Microsoft Office Experience (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Experience in the following areas is preferred:
· 5S/Lean manufacturing
· ERP/MRP system
Physical Demands:
· Be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
· Noise level in work environment is moderate
· Safety glasses, hearing protection and closed toe shoes must be worn on the production floor
· Some travel, mostly local, may be required
· Infrequent overnight travel may be required
