High Horse Power/Marine Field Service Diesel Technician

Job Summary:

Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer’s site.

We are looking for a talented High Horse Power/Marine Field Service Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Kapolei, HI).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

• Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Completes complex internal engine repairs

• Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls

• Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools

• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components

• Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on high horsepower marine diesel engines.

• Troubleshoot engine, fuel, cooling, air handling, electrical, and aftertreatment systems.

• Complete engine overhauls, rebuilds, and component replacements.

• Perform vessel inspections and provide recommendations for repair and maintenance.

• Utilize electronic diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical documentation.

• Inspect and repair marine propulsion and auxiliary systems.

• Prepare detailed service reports and document all work performed.

• Communicate repair findings and recommendations to customers and internal teams.

• Respond to emergency service calls as needed.

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment while following company safety policies and marine industry regulations.

• Travel to customer locations, shipyards, docks, and neighboring islands as required.

• A current valid license is required for this role

• This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations

• This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical

• 3 years driving experience

• This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use

• Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age

• A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire

• Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Significant field service work experience

Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Customer service experience

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
