Cummings Lumber Company is seeking an experienced Controller/Director of Finance to oversee accounting and financial operations and serve as a strategic partner to management. This role is responsible for core accounting functions while providing financial insight to support budgeting, forecasting, and business growth.
This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with manufacturing experience who enjoys working closely with leadership and using financial data to drive decisions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze accounting records and financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Oversee accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting
- Maintain and improve accounting systems, records, and documentation using modern, cloud-based accounting platforms
- Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local accounting regulations and reporting requirements
- Analyze business operations, costs, revenues, margins, and profitability; provide financial insight and recommendations to management
- Monitor key financial metrics and identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Partner with management on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Support payroll and HR-related financial activities as needed
- Perform additional duties or temporary assignments as required
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in accounting or equivalent experience
- Four or more years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
- Solid understanding of current accounting standards and best practices
- Strong proficiency with cloud-based accounting software and financial reporting systems
