Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain overall control of the firm’s accounting records and ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of the financial records and underlying systems.
- Prepare monthly income statements, balance sheets, cash flow and financial reports.
- Oversee monthly financial and management reporting including delivery of concise and insightful variance analysis.
- Prepare the firm’s annual tax return and related schedules.
- Supervise the accounting department.
- Manage and oversee the firm’s annual budget process.
- Develop financial projections for use by management in planning and decision support efforts.
- Actively participate in the design and implementation of the firm’s process automation and profitability reporting initiatives.
- Oversee cash flow reporting, cash flow management and treasury operations.
- Collaborate with, and provide support to, supporting administrative and financial functions such as payroll, practice management, and financial analysis.
- Maintain and oversee the firm’s 401(k)/profit sharing plan, including annual audits.
- B.A. degree in accounting or demonstrated proficiency through relevant work experience. CPA desired.
- 7-10 years of experience working in the accounting function, preferably in a professional services business (e.g. law, accounting, engineering, etc.).
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
- Solid accounting knowledge. Experience in preparing partnership tax returns desired.
- Strong proficiency with Excel and ability to create financial models.
- Ability to multi-task under tight, unpredictable deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to fully utilize and leverage office technology.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Highly organized with an aptitude for details.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships with leadership, attorneys, and staff.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously, working well under pressure.
- Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral and diagram form.
- Experience communicating with and presenting to senior management.
