Certified Nursing Assistant to Certified Medical Assistant Program

Location: Russell Family Medical Center - Pediatrics
Six-month full-time paid training program with completion leading to full-time CMA position

Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Participate in Certified Medical Assistant training courses and clinical experiences with an experienced preceptor in the clinical setting. (Online coursework will constitute approximately 20% of weekly time, with clinical training being approximately 80% of weekly time.)
- Course and certification test costs are covered by CFMC, with a 30-month employment commitment following certification.
- Consult with and keep supervisors informed of clinical activities, needs, and problems related to patient care.
- Complies with established patient care standards.
- Maintains established clinical policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee interdepartmental and public relations.
- Greetings patients and escorts them to the exam room.
- Takes and records vital and patient medical information in chart.
- Prepares patient room for exam.
- Assist Provider in procedures as necessary.
- Completes ordered lab procedures.
- Administer IM, Sub Q injections to include immunizations.
- Wound care and suture removal as directed by Provider.
- Communicate results of all procedures and tests to Provider.
- Discharge patient to receptionist.
- Cleans and disinfects exam rooms after use.
- Restock supplies, linens, equipment, and checks for defects and outdated.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars and educational sessions are required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- CPR Certification.
- CNA certification.
- Maintain required continuing education courses.
Schedule Requirements:
Full-time position, 5 days per week, 100% clinic-based, in person work required.
Work schedules are set at the discretion of CFMC and may be adjusted at any time based on the operational needs of the organization.
