Job Summary:
Responsible for the accountability and reconciliation of all Inmate and Institutional monies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains and analyzes all inmate money accounts.
- Verifies expense reports or other documents and reports as required within department.
- Coordinates inmate commissary services to include delivery and issuing of refunds, as well as tracking all commissions.
- Responsible for managing in-house data base to ensure accurate collection, documentation and reporting for all financial aspects of the Work Release Program.
- Processes and redistributes work release and trusty inmate payroll to include room and board, cash allotments, court costs, fines, restitution and voluntary support.
- Maintains monthly data for all in-house revenue, provides analysis and projections for annual targets; submits reports monthly and annually.
- Attends meetings and/or training sessions as required.
- Assists Prison Leadership with special projects, reports or assignments as requested.
- Assumes chain of custody for all cash and commissions collections and re-distributes monies to the appropriate departments, such as Treasurer’s Office and Clerk of Courts.
- Responsible for oversight of Inmate Indigent Program.
- Trains new hire staff with Operations department duties and assists with those duties in absence of administrative staff members, or as needed.
- Submit monthly reports, maintains records according to current law and standards and assists with annual audits.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements to Perform the Work:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 15 credits in accounting with some education in the field of Criminal Justice or another Social Service.
- Employee must successfully complete the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections’ Basic Training Academy.
Work Experience:
- 2 years working experience in office environment, county government or court system with an emphasis in accounting or any acceptable combination of equivalent training and/or experience.
