TITLE: Career Development Facilitator (CDC)
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and current license in any Career and Technical Education Program Area OR Current Continuing Professional license as School Counselor at the G level. Career Development Facilitator Certification (preferred). Exemplary communication and leadership skills and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Career & Technical Education (CTE)
JOB GOAL:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes and facilitates the Career Development program and Academic and Career Planning platform at the school and district levels for secondary students.
Arranges career-related activities with academic, industry, local agencies, and community stakeholders to provide work-based learning opportunities for students including field trips, guest speakers, and career shadowing for career exploration and development.
Coordinates, facilitates, and promotes national and state career development related initiatives to include but not limited to Career Development Month, CTE Month and Students @ Work.
Manages Career Awareness Activities aligned with Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and The Innovation Project’s SparkNC High Tech Learning Initiatives.
Assists in recruitment, enrollment, and transition of middle grades students to high school Career Academies, Career Pathways, and work-based learning opportunities.
Promotes Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) participation and assists with CTSO competitions.
Collaborates with Career Development Coordinators and Special Populations Coordinators on aligned career pathway initiatives.
Markets and publicizes Cumberland County Schools Career and Technical Education programs.
Provides consistent reporting on career development activities, student participation rates, and outcomes.
Attends regular professional development and strategic planning with the CTE Executive Director and CTE leadership team.
Serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer-driven, and valuing fairness.
Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of sitting, light lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
Auditory acuity at a level to hear telephone conversations, customer questions and concerns, and supervisor-vocalized instructions.
Visual acuity to read and analyze computer screens, documents, and correspondence.
Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word.
