For over 60 years, The Guidance Center has been a primary mental health support agency, providing compassionate, professional care to individuals and families in Cumberland County, NJ. As a non-profit organization, our dedicated team of professionals, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff, works to diagnose and treat all types of mental illness.

As a new Janitorial Maintenance Worker at Cumberland County Guidance Center, your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a blend of cleaning and maintenance tasks. You can expect to start your shift promptly at 10:00 AM and work until 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. During this time, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in common areas, restrooms, and offices, ensuring a welcoming environment for staff and clients.

Additionally, you'll handle basic maintenance tasks, such as changing lightbulbs and performing minor repairs. Restocking supplies and reporting any maintenance issues will also be part of your routine. With an emphasis on problem-solving and customer-centricity, you'll be actively contributing to the smooth operation of our facility and ensuring a positive atmosphere throughout the day.

To thrive as a Janitorial Maintenance Worker at Cumberland County Guidance Center, certain skills and qualifications are essential. A High School Diploma sets the foundation for your success. You should have practical knowledge and experience in grounds keeping, as well as handyman-type tasks that may arise throughout your day. Familiarity with janitorial tools and equipment, such as floor buffers and effective carpet cleaning methods, is vital. You'll also need expertise in maintaining various surfaces, including tile floors and walls.

Experience operating both riding and manual lawn mowers will be advantageous in ensuring our outdoor spaces are pristine. A valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean five-year driving record is required, as it qualifies you for insurance coverage. Furthermore, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds will be necessary as you handle various equipment and perform maintenance tasks effectively. Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• High School Diploma. Knowledge and experience of grounds keeping. Knowledge and experience with handyman type tasks.


• Experience with janitorial tools/equipment such as a floor buffer.


• Knowledge of properly cleaning carpets, tile floors, walls, etc.


• Experience with riding and manual lawn mowers.


• Possession of a valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean five-year driving record that meets organizational standards and qualifies for insurance coverage.


• Able to lift 50 pounds.
