Position Description
TITLE: Maintenance/Groundskeeper (Part-time/Temporary) DEPARTMENT: Physical Plant
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for maintenance, safety, and appearance of WheatonArts’ interior and exterior spaces. Works with Facilities Manager on ongoing grounds care,maintenance responsibilities, and special event needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Custodial
- Sweep, vacuum, dust, dry mops, wet mops, empty trash, and recycling containers, clean windows, and changes light bulbs.
- Cleans restrooms and other buildings when requested.
- Supports the Facilities Manager in the monitoring of mechanical equipment (e.g., HVAC, plumbing).
- Does repair work and painting as needed.
- Sets up and breaks down special events and facility rentals.
- Maintains paths and sidewalks, keeping unobstructed by branches, gumballs, leaves, snow, etc.
- Maintains parking lot, sidewalks, signs, and exterior lighting.
- Supports the maintenance of landscaping, including flowerbeds, shrubs, etc.
- Supports tree removal and/or clean-up.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, some vocational or technical school preferred; experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or similar work environment.
Necessary Knowledge and Skills: Ability to work on one’s feet for most of the day and manually operate equipment such as leaf blowers, chain saws, etc. Ability to multitask and prioritize; ability to be self-motivated and flexible; attention to detail; ability to work in a team-oriented environment; ability to communicate effectively.
Tools and Equipment Used: Vacuum; weed whacker; leaf blower; basic carpentry tools; basic plumbing tools.
Physical Demands: Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and grasp; frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Stamina and ability to work for extended periods outdoors.
Job Type: Part-time/Temporary
Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Schedule:
- 32 Hours, four 8-hour shifts
- Day shift - occasional evenings.
- Availability Monday through Sunday
- Work Holidays if the WheatonArts campus is open to the public
- Weekend availability
- Work Location: In person in Millville, NJ
