Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite in Decatur, IL. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $38/hr full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to support machine configuration and design integration within a complex engineering environment. This role focuses on maintaining machine layouts, reviewing engineering changes, and ensuring design accuracy across mechanical systems. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate design updates, support product development, and ensure proper integration across systems. This position offers hands-on exposure to CAD modeling, configuration management, and large-scale equipment design.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain machine layout and configuration, ensuring alignment with system requirements
• Review engineering change notices and design revisions for accuracy and feasibility
• Support Bill of Material (BOM) structure and configuration management processes
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration
• Maintain and update CAD models to ensure design integrity and consistency
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
• 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience (internships do not count)
• Experience with CAD software, preferably CREO
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM systems
• Exposure to machine design, layout, or configuration engineering
• Experience working in manufacturing or heavy equipment environments
