Program Overview
The U.S. Virgin Islands Rebuild Program is a federally funded, multi-billion-dollar disaster recovery initiative led by the USVI Office of Disaster Recovery, a division of the Virgin Islands Public Finance Authority. Established in response to the extensive damage caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, the program focuses on restoring and modernizing critical public infrastructure across the territory.
Cube Root is responsible for managing and supporting recovery projects across four primary sectors:
- Education Reconstruction and modernization of schools and educational facilities
- Healthcare Hospitals, clinics, and public health infrastructure
- Infrastructure Roadways, water systems, wastewater treatment, and power distribution networks
- Public Buildings Fire stations, emergency response centers, power plants, and other essential government facilities
Cube Root is seeking subcontractor support to fulfill key Assistant Project Manager (APM) functions within this complex and high-impact program. The selected candidate will provide critical support to the Project Manager and project teams to ensure successful execution of project objectives.
Responsibilities And Duties
As a member of the project team, the Assistant Project Manager will support planning, coordination, execution, and reporting activities across assigned projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the Project Manager in defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables
- Assist in preparing and maintaining project schedules, budgets, and status reports
- Coordinate communication among project stakeholders and team members
- Track project progress and help ensure milestones and deadlines are met
- Assist in identifying project risks and support implementation of mitigation strategies
- Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with quality standards
- Provide administrative and logistical support for meetings, reporting, and documentation
- Contribute to project tracking and reporting using established tools and systems
- Support procurement processes and contract administration as directed
- Foster collaboration and maintain positive working relationships with clients and team members
- Maintain accurate and organized project records, including meeting minutes, change orders, and compliance documentation
- Assist in managing subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
- Help monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
- Support monitoring of project expenditures and preparation of cost reports
- Assist with obtaining permits and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements
- Prepare weekly and/or monthly progress reports for internal and client review
- Regularly update project schedules and communicate changes to stakeholders
- Maintain a project issues log and follow up on resolution status
- Participate in client meetings and provide updates as directed by the Project Manager
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field
- 35 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or related roles
- Basic knowledge of contract management, construction processes, and project documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Strong organizational, communication, and problemsolving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Skills
- Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) certification
- Experience supporting largescale infrastructure or disaster recovery programs
- Familiarity with federal programs, including FEMA
- Exposure to project management systems such as KAHUA
