Job Title Technical Writer
Location - Batesville, IN
Duration - 12 months with a possibility of extension
Shift Details First Shift, Hybrid (In-office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Pay Range - $33/hr - $35/hr
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, edit, format, and proofread operational and instructional documents for medical devices
- Ensure documentation adheres to departmental style guidelines and quality standards
- Collaborate with Sustaining Engineering to update documents due to product changes
- May develop new instructional documents for significant product changes
- Participate in peer reviews with other technical writers for grammar, style, and accuracy
- Assist in preparing documentation plans and provide input for Change Design Plans & Reports (CDP&R)
- Support development timelines by estimating schedules and managing deliverables
- Conduct interviews with technical teams to gather content and feedback
- Work with illustrators to create visual content for documentation
- Coordinate with translation vendors for translated materials and cost estimates
- Perform other duties as needed to support business activities and team workflow
Must-Have (Non-Negotiable) Skills
- Proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker
- Mechanical aptitude
- Writing experience or relevant education
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience with content management systems and version control tools
- Ability to simplify and clearly explain complex technical concepts
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree: Not required
- Preferred: Associate's degree in Technical Communication, Professional Writing, or related field
- Experience: 2 years as an effective technical writer
- Range: 0 5 years of experience in technical writing and documentation
Preferred Tools & Technical Knowledge
- Desktop publishing tools: FrameMaker, InDesign, Oxygen XML
- Understanding of engineering drawings and technical illustrations
- Familiarity with FDA and other regulatory documentation requirements
