Senior EMC Engineer (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility)
Location: Northbrook, IL (Onsite – 90%)
Travel: Required to facilities in Northbrook & Wheeling, IL
Shift: 1st Shift – Monday to Friday
Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Engineer – Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) with strong hands-on testing experience. The role focuses on defining EMC requirements, supporting product design compliance, leading EMC testing activities, and ensuring products meet applicable regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Define EMC requirements based on applicable industry standards and evaluate their impact on product baseline design.
- Perform EMC analysis during design phases and project compliance margins for design reviews and customer technical meetings.
- Develop EMI test equipment requirements, including maintenance and calibration processes.
- Implement EMI test procedures and oversee execution activities.
- Utilize circuit simulation and electromagnetic modeling tools.
- Operate and analyze results using EMC test equipment including:
- Spectrum analyzers
- EMI receivers
- Oscilloscopes
- Amplifiers
- Current probes
- Power supplies
- Participate in:
- EMC Test Planning
- System Integration
- Verification & Validation activities
- Develop and author:
- EMC plans
- Test protocols
- Compliance documentation
- Coordinate testing at in-house labs and third-party accredited test facilities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable EMC standards and system requirements.
- Support design teams with root cause analysis for product and design failures.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- (or related discipline)
- 5–10 years of hands-on EMC testing experience
- Strong understanding of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) theory
- Experience translating customer needs into compliant engineering solutions.

- BS EN IEC 61000-4-11:2020
- IEC 61000-4-6 (Ed. 4.0)
