Shift Structure: Third Shift | 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Sunday Night through Friday Morning (Overtime and weekend coverage required based on production demands)
Pay Rate: $43.50 - $48.10/hr on W2

Job Description:
Our client, a global leader in advanced technology and precision industrial machinery, is seeking a dedicated 3rd Shift Welding Manufacturing Engineer to take ownership of night operations in the Fabrication department at the Davenport Works facility. In this role, you will be the "boots-on-the-ground" technical owner responsible for keeping production running smoothly overnight. You will balance immediate, real-time troubleshooting of manual and robotic welding systems with long-term process optimization, quality validation, and engineering documentation. This is a 100% onsite role requiring a strong engineering presence on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Floor Support & Troubleshooting: Provide active, real-time technical engineering support to 3rd-shift operators and maintenance crews to quickly resolve manufacturing disruptions.
- Robotics & System Optimization: Troubleshoot and optimize both manual welding lines and automated robotic welding systems.
- Process Continuity: Execute, validate, and continuously improve new or existing fabrication processes to ensure high-quality outputs within established cost guidelines.
- Quality & Inspection: Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of welded assemblies to ensure structural integrity and strict conformance to engineering specifications.
- Data & Systems Management: Resolve technical issues related to shop floor data tracking and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES); document system modifications, track open work tickets, and draft clear technical specifications.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Technical Experience: Practical engineering experience managing, operating, and troubleshooting manual and robotic welding systems.
- Industrial Toolkit: Strong technical background in manufacturing engineering, tooling design, or heavy structural steel fabrication workflows.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot complex, automated industrial machinery under tight production timelines.
- Digital Systems: High proficiency utilizing standard digital business tools, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook, to manage data tracking and team communications.
- Shift Commitment: Full flexibility and resilience to sustain a dedicated 3rd-shift schedule, including mandatory overtime and weekend production runs.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
Stand-Out Skills (Preferred):
- Hands-on programming or troubleshooting experience with Fanuc robotic welding systems.
- Direct familiarity with heavy equipment manufacturing standards or structural component welding specs.
- Experience utilizing formalized root cause analysis methods to trace and permanently resolve repeat defects on the factory floor.
