Position Summary:
Client Building is seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee and enforce safety protocols for a large, multi-year project. The SSHO will ensure full compliance with federal (OSHA), state (NC OSHA), and local safety regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure compliance with the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and all applicable safety policies.
• Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and operational practices.
• Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to maintain compliance with safety standards.
• Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; develop and document corrective and preventive action plans.
• Maintain complete and accurate safety documentation, including logs, permits, inspection reports, and training records.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to verify their safety programs and training meet project-specific requirements.
• Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for all safety-related matters.
• Collaborate with project teams to identify hazards and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of EHS experience in construction safety, preferably on large-scale commercial projects required.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
• Must possess—or be willing and able to obtain within 6 months—a CHST, ASP, or CSP certification.
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Preferred Skills:
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred.
