Registered Nurse (RN) SupervisorPosition SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care during assigned shifts within the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). The RN Supervisor provides clinical leadership, supervises nursing personnel, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, promotes resident-centered care, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to achieve positive resident outcomes. Reports ToUnit Managers / Director of Nursing Supervises

- Agency Nursing Staff
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate nursing care on assigned shifts.
- Ensure nursing care is delivered according to physician orders, care plans, facility policies, and professional standards.
- Make clinical decisions regarding resident assessment, treatment, and emergency interventions.
- Perform resident assessments as needed and assist with complex clinical situations.
- Respond promptly to changes in resident condition and ensure timely physician and family notifications.
- Assist with scheduling as needed.
- Occasionally fill in as a cart nurse, and assist CNA’s.
Staff Supervision
- Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and support to nursing staff.
- Assign duties based on resident acuity and staff competencies.
- Monitor employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Participate in orientation and mentoring of new employees.
- Address performance concerns and document appropriately.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- CMS Regulations
- New York State Department of Health requirements
- Infection Prevention and Control Standards
- OSHA regulations
- HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
- Facility policies and procedures
- Assist during regulatory surveys and implement corrective actions as directed.
Resident Care
- Promote resident rights, dignity, and person-centered care.
- Review and ensure completion of nursing documentation.
- Monitor medication administration practices.
- Ensure completion of incident investigations and required documentation.
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary meetings as needed.
Infection Prevention
- Monitor infection prevention practices.
- Ensure isolation precautions are followed.
- Collaborate with the Infection Preventionist regarding communicable diseases and outbreak management.
Quality Assurance
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities if required.
- Identify trends affecting resident care and recommend improvements.
- Assist with audits, chart reviews, and quality monitoring initiatives.
Communication
- Maintain effective communication with residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, laboratories, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Conduct thorough shift reports and communicate significant clinical concerns.
- Escalate urgent issues to the DON or Administrator when appropriate.
Emergency Response
- Respond to medical emergencies.
- Coordinate emergency transfers.
- Serve as Incident Commander during facility emergencies when assigned.
- Participate in disaster preparedness activities when assigned.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
- Previous supervisory experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of CMS regulations and long-term care standards.

Working Conditions
- Skilled Nursing Facility environment.
- Exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and on-call as assigned.
