Examples of Duties
- Assists the Director of Fleet technology with application management and all CTtransit branded vehicle network topology.
- Collect and monitor CAD/AVL system data issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Configure and monitor router configuration.
- Work with the maintenance team to resolve any fleet technical issues.
- Identify and communicate trends and operational issues.
- Provide support on CAD/AVL, Business Intelligence, TransitMaster, OPS and other system data-related tools.
- Provide Level 1 or 2 IT support for transit industry enterprise application helpdesk requests.
- Translate, interpret, analyze data impacting key performance indicators and communicate findings to operations department personnel.
- Serve as liaison for requests for operations data for external and internal inquiries.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and coordinating projects with vendors related to CAD/AVL system data to determine CTtransit service compliance.
- Provide training and support to different departments on systems as needed.
- Coordinate work activities with transit operations personnel for data collection and data integrity.
- Act as primary technical contact for key software suppliers and partners.
- Assists in maintaining department databases.
- Responds to inquiries for information from employees, senior leadership, and/or external partners as needed.
- Attends in-service training, seminars or other opportunities for professional development as made available by the Agency.
- Actively participates in staff meetings, training, etc.
- Assists with special events and other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Minimum possession of a bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics, analytics, information technology or a closely related field, and one (1) year of relevant work experience or recent relevant course work is required.
2. An equivalent combination of education and work experience on a year-for-year basis can be substituted for the 4-year degree requirement.
3. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists is required.
4. Experience working directly with customers.
5. Familiarity with helpdesk ticketing systems is strongly preferred. (i.e. ServiceNow, Genuity, Freshdesk)
6. Knowledge of public transit operations, policies and procedures and regulations is strongly preferred.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy required.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to multitask, manage multiple projects, ability to conduct training when necessary is required.
9. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint required. The ability to quickly learn new software programs is required. The ability to prioritize projects and to work both independently and in a team environment.
10. A valid Driver’s License is required.
11. May be required to travel in the course of their daily work.
