SUMMARY:
Seeking a Marine Outboard Mechanic with a minimum 3 years of marine and/or shipyard experience who will diagnose, adjust, repair or overhaul outboard boat engines.
A Motor Rewinder Journeyman will accomplish the safe data collection and rewinding of AC/DC electric motors, generators, armatures, rotors, transformers, magnet and brake coils and related electrical components without Supervision. Accomplish the verification of applicable rewinds by core loss, hi pot, phase balance, rotational direction, meg-ohm and similar testing without Supervision. Accomplish the documentation of pre and post testing data without Supervision. Perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains or repairs engines, with an emphasis on Evinrude outboard engines.
- Analyzes defects and adjusts or repairs electrical mechanical systems of outboard motors.
- Disassembles and inspects motor for defective parts, using mechanics hand tools and gauges.
- Replaces parts, like gears, magneto points, piston rings and spark plugs and reassembles engine.
- Performs routine engine maintenance.
- Maintains repair or maintenance records.
- Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive feedback, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or GED certificate or equivalent education and experience.
- 3 plus years’ experience (military/marine or ship repair industry preferred).
- Ability to work at a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability and tolerance to meet due dates and deadlines and/or time constraints.
- Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and determine solutions.
