 SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking applicants for a Customer Service Bills of Materials Specialist role, for our sheet metal fabrication company. The ideal candidate will be computer savvy and a fast typist with a keen eye for detail. Manufacturing experience is preferred. The ability to read simple blueprints is helpful, ability to learn is required.

You will collaborate directly with Engineering, Sales, Inventory Control, Scheduling, and Customer Service. You will work closely with personnel in shipping, accounting, and production. Some work may be performed in the production area.

This position provides customer service to all of our customers, by phone and e-mail, and is key in growing and maintaining customer relationships. Positive attitude is a must! This is a multiple task, deadline-based environment with a requirement for speed and accuracy, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, therefore flexibility is necessary to maintain multiple projects as well as re-evaluate and change priorities quickly and efficiently.

Duties

• Coordinate with production associates to ensure that raw material used during fabrication is captured
• Ensure that all captured raw materials are allocated to the appropriate static BOM
• Monitor frequency of use and recommend that common items be drawn and released by engineering

Create items in our system from Engineering Change Notifications

Assign inventory locations and unit of measure for newly-created items.

Ensure that engineering drawing and description match for newly-created items

Maintain Item Master to reflect change in item revision, usage, obsolescence, etc.

Improve efficiency by placing items at point of use, ensuring proper labeling, driving creation of standards, etc.

Assist in determining storage method, reorder points/quantities for items.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
• Plan order of assembly within BOMs through operations
• Work with supervisors to plan audits and understand production status
• Review items purchased to ensure production needs and proper consumption
• Review shop orders to identify potential material and production constraints.
• Interpret and verify Bills of Materials to ensure proper item selection and manufacturing readiness.
• Identify discrepancies in BOMs, missing parts, or invalid configurations and communicate needed corrections.
• Work with Engineering and Inventory Control teams when BOM changes or revisions occur.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product lines, features, materials, and revision levels.
