Job Title: 2nd Shift Plasma Operator / 2nd shift Differential

Position Summary
The 2nd Shift Plasma Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC plasma cutting equipment to accurately cut metal materials according to production specifications. This role ensures quality standards, maintains a safe work environment, and supports production schedules while minimizing material waste and machine downtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines according to work orders and engineering drawings.
- Load, position, and secure metal plates and materials for cutting.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and production specifications.
- Verify dimensions and quality of finished parts using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and squares.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure precision and efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections of plasma cutting equipment.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions or quality concerns to the supervisor or maintenance team.
- Maintain accurate production records and material usage documentation.
- Safely move materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment (if certified).
- Keep the work area clean and organized following 5S and company housekeeping standards.
- Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment or similar manufacturing machinery preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Basic math skills and understanding of measurements.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Schedule
- Shift: 2nd Shift
- Hours: 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM (or as assigned)
- Overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC programming or nesting software.
- Forklift and overhead crane certification.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
