Job Overview:
The Low Voltage / Structured Cabling Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for structured cabling and integrated technology system projects. This role requires in-depth knowledge of TIA/EIA standards, fiber infrastructure, and telecommunications systems.
Responsibilities:
Estimate Development:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for:
- Structured Cabling (Cat6, Fiber Optic, Backbone Infrastructure)
- Network Infrastructure
- Security Systems (Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion)
- Audio-Visual Systems
- Paging & Intercom
- Nurse Call
- PoE Lighting
- Cellular Enhancement / DAS
- Sound Masking Systems
- Perform material take-offs and labor modeling.
Proposal Preparation:
- Prepare scope narratives, budgets, and proposal documentation.
- Collaborate with sales and operations to align pricing with project goals.
Project Analysis and Risk Assessment:
- Identify scope gaps and cost exposures.
- Protect margin through strategic pricing and risk evaluation.
Vendor and Supplier Coordination:
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Maintain current knowledge of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new products.
Client Communication:
- Clarify project scope and technical requirements with clients.
- Address client queries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Set expectations and over communicate all client matters
Compliance and Standards Adherence:
- Ensure all estimations and project plans comply with industry standards, BICSI guidelines, local codes, and TIA/EIA standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of estimates, bids, and client communications.
- Generate reports and analyses for internal use and client presentations.
- KPI’S: Annual Sales, Submitted Bids, Win Percentage
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Educational/Vocational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in structured cabling or low voltage estimation or a related role.
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite
- BICSI certification preferred.
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
