Job Overview:

The Low Voltage / Structured Cabling Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for structured cabling and integrated technology system projects. This role requires in-depth knowledge of TIA/EIA standards, fiber infrastructure, and telecommunications systems.


Responsibilities:

Estimate Development:

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for:
  • Structured Cabling (Cat6, Fiber Optic, Backbone Infrastructure)
  • Network Infrastructure
  • Security Systems (Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion)
  • Audio-Visual Systems
  • Paging & Intercom
  • Nurse Call
  • PoE Lighting
  • Cellular Enhancement / DAS
  • Sound Masking Systems
  • Perform material take-offs and labor modeling.

Proposal Preparation:

  • Prepare scope narratives, budgets, and proposal documentation.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations to align pricing with project goals.

Project Analysis and Risk Assessment:

  • Identify scope gaps and cost exposures.
  • Protect margin through strategic pricing and risk evaluation.

Vendor and Supplier Coordination:

  • Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
  • Maintain current knowledge of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new products.

Client Communication:

  • Clarify project scope and technical requirements with clients.
  • Address client queries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Set expectations and over communicate all client matters

Compliance and Standards Adherence:

  • Ensure all estimations and project plans comply with industry standards, BICSI guidelines, local codes, and TIA/EIA standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Keep accurate records of estimates, bids, and client communications.
  • Generate reports and analyses for internal use and client presentations.
  • KPI’S: Annual Sales, Submitted Bids, Win Percentage


Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.


Educational/Vocational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in structured cabling or low voltage estimation or a related role.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • BICSI certification preferred.

Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
