What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist position at CSX?
Works daily to resolve waybilling, suspense, foreign road settlement, car hire claims, rail plus trucking settlements, and freight bill issues in the Waybilling, Waybill Suspense, Intercarrier Settlements, Supplemental & Rail Plus Billing, or Car Hire Reporting teams. Prepares analyses, journal entries, reconciliations and researches discrepancies providing long term solutions to repetitive problems. Executes improvement projects focused on analyzing data and data relationships from which to draw fact-based conclusions that will drive and support recommendations. For team members who work as waybillers in the Waybilling team, they must be HAZMAT certified within 90 days of joining the team and recertified every 2 years to retain their position
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Resolves waybilling, suspense, foreign road settlement, car hire claims, rail plus trucking settlements, and freight bill issues in the Waybilling, Waybill Suspense, Intercarrier Settlements, Supplemental & Rail Plus Billing, or Car Hire Reporting teams. Prepares analyses, journal entries, reconciliations, and researches discrepancies.
- Analyzes data and data relationships from which to draw fact-based conclusions that will drive improvement.
- Collaborates with Technology and other Business Partners to resolve, improve, and implement solutions.
- Assists Billing team with other value added projects.
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- High School Diploma/GED
- 5 or more years of experience in Billing, Receivables, Accounting, Operations, Customer Service, or related rail experience
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 1 or more years of experience in Billing, Receivables, Accounting, Operations, Customer Service, Business, Finance, or related rail experience industry Billing or Collections experience
- Knowledge of corporate financial principles and practices
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills

Job Requirements
- Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (incl working weekends)
- Hours which include rotating on-call responsibilities which may be outside standard hours
- Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week and holidays)
